John Brushett Online Fundraiser

John Brushett was born in the old hospital located in Ship Cove, Burin.  His parents are Albertha McPhee and Charles Brushett.  His father passed away when he was still a young boy. His siblings are Leonard, David, Travis, Allison Holloway.

He grew up mostly in Creston North where he established a number friendships.  His family still lives in the area.  His mother lives in Mooring Cove.  Aunt Jessie Abbot currently lives in Bull’s Cove.  He also grew up with his cousin Gordie Abbot.  His aunt Marion Hollett lives in Lewin’s Cove.

John married Pauline Smith in 1989.  In 1994 John served in the Marshall Islands as a missionary.  In 2007 he received God’s call to become a Bible instructor.  Due to his exemplary work in 2008 the Seventh-day Day Adventist Church invited him to serve as a pastor in Lethbridge; he is currently serving in Corner Brook.

The call of God and ordination to the Gospel ministry was recognized by the Church in a special sacred ceremony in the summer of 2016 at Camp Woody Acres (Southwest Pond).  Brushett’s love for young people led him to be appointed as Youth Director.  Over the years he has hosted yearly Camp Meetings at Woody Acres where the Church meets annually for nine straight days to praise God, pray and listen to God’s Word by international speakers.  He also enjoys playing the guitar, going fishing, playing hockey, and “hopping rocks off the brook.”

This summer he suffered an injury that broke several of his ribs.  As the doctors looked into his situation they discovered he had cancer.  Due to his injury and medical condition, he is currently on a leave of absence and receiving monthly financial assistance from the Church.  Unfortunately, some of his medical expenses are not covered by his insurance.  Your assistance will help alleviate some of this financial burden.  We are grateful for your generosity.

We are grateful to Mr. Ross Tilley, a stringer for NTV News, covering the Burin Peninsula in Newfoundland, for assisting in organizing this event and Mr. Clarence Mitchell for supplying the P.A. audio equipment.   All musicians are greatly appreciated for their commitment to share their God-given talents. Three young boys from the local community who are training in Audio/Visual with the NuFoundLife Centre are also volunteering their time to run the equipment for the night.  They are Levi, Isaac and Colby.
Words of gratitude to Ms. Lisa Trimm from Channel 6 Ads.  We are also indebted to Ms. Sherry Griffin, manager of VOAR, Christian Family Radio.

We are also thankful to volunteers from our local congregation of Marystown for their faithful compassion in this time of need for the Brushett family.  Pastors and their congregations across the Newfoundland mission field have also organized similar events and we are thankful for their efforts.  In particular we grateful to Pastor Jason Williams for this fundraising initiative.  We are thankful to Newfoundland and Labrador Mission of Seventh-day Adventists. Pr. Ken Corkum and his administrative team are currently providing continuing financial support to the Brushett family during this time of great need.  Pr. Corkum also organized an anointing service in behalf of Pr. John a few weeks ago.  The Corner Brook congregation was quite supportive during this special sacred event.
We are also thankful to RICOH Canada for placing a rush for a technician to come this morning and repair our printer.  We are now able to publish our program for this evening's event.
The prayer team of the  Forrest Lake Church in Apopka, Florida, has graciously crafted a quilt and donated it to Pr. John as a gesture of love, faith and support for his cause.  Thank you  Jason J. Waddell of Global Trade Services with Fedex Express Canada for waving the customs duty for shipping the quilt.  We appreciate the support and prayers of all who desire to see the end of illness, suffering, pain, violence and death.

We are also grateful for your donations.  100% of all funds collected will go to Pr. Brushett’s Fund. Write a check to: Seventh-day Adventist Church. Memo: John Brushett.  You may also donate; see link above.

We thank you in advance for your kind support.
