Empires: Martin Luther part of the PBS series Great Religions. Take a fascinating look back into the history surrounding popular religions and you will find much written about Martin Luther. He was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, monk, and a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation. Luther was revered for his teachings and strong held beliefs for he studied the bible extensively.
As a result, he discovered that human beings do not need a human priest to mediate between them and God, but that they could boldly approach the throne of God’s grace and receive forgiveness. (Hebrews 4:16) This revolutionary discovery led him to further uncover that sinful human beings are freely justified by God through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. (Romans 3:24)
Against all odds he took this knowledge to the world and the Protestant Reformation was born founded on the trifold biblical concept that people may simply live by grace alone, faith alone and Christ alone. This well narrated program shows him as a man of faith with a flawed character but resolved to give up his life for his faith in God.
